ELKIN The Best Little Town in North Carolina t VOL. No. XXXL No. 52. • Annual Christmas Shopper’s Edition AMERICA First, Last and Always PUBLISHED WEEKLY The Elkin Tribune ELKIN, N. C., THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 19, 1942 ■K. .k liiMX iMh ji+Hlt it ELKIN S GALA CHRISTMAS OPENING THURSDAY NOVEMBER 19 ■' <? f } We should realize by now how fortunate we are. We, still living in a land over which the skies are calm. We, living in the hearts of our families, surrounded by the children and friends and possessions we love. We should realize now the preciousness of these things and that they must be safeguarded for all time. It is in this very spirit that it is up to us to make this as wonderful a Christmas as we can. By all means keep the magic light of wonder over Santa and the ornamented tree, bright in the children’s eyes. Be generous — with thrilling gifts which, though they may cost a lot—will give a lot, too, in years of beauty and usefulness. Make it a memorable Christmas, as your challenge to those who would wrest these simple pleasures from us. And determine that from this moment on you are going to do even more—however arduous it may seem—to help win the Victory ... and win the peace ... that will make Christ mas in America always the joyous time our tradition has made it! Welcome Back, Santa!
